Curricula in mathematics
The mathematics department welcomes some 2500 French and foreign students every year, from undergraduates to doctoral students. Curricula are organized in compliance with the Bachelor’s Master's Doctorate degree (BMD) European system, based on the achievement of transferable credits (ECTS, European Credit Transfer System).
The Bachelor's degree is a general program offering a large choice of credits: around 60 teaching units are available in pure and applied Mathematics and Computer Science.
Backed up by the top level laboratories, the Master's degree in mathematics is one of the most versatile in France. It is an advanced program which covers the major fields in pure and applied mathematics.
The doctorate is prepared within one of the academic or industrial laboratories connected with the postgraduate school of Mathematical Sciences- Paris-Centre.
The full range of courses offered are meant to train the best experts in pure and applied mathematics, who will be able to take highly qualified positions in public services as well as in private companies where the needs in mathematics are increasing (banks, insurance companies, actuaries, industry…).
Most of the courses are available via distance and open learning teaching and some of them can be provided on request with tutoring in English. Specific preparations for the CAPES and agrégation national competitive exams for high school teaching, and for the tests of certain engineering schools are also organized.
The department also offers a wide range of specific programs for further education, dedicated to working students with adapted schedules. These are organised upon request and result in a certificate or diploma.
